MICROWAVE CARAMELS

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter
2 1/4 brown sugar packed
1 cup white corn syrup
1 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
dash of salt
1 tsp vanilla
DIRECTIONS:
Melt butter in large microwavable container
Add brown sugar, syrup, condensed milk and salt. Stir well, Microwave on high for 15 minutes, stopping to stir 2 or 3 times. Heat to hard ball stage, (this may take 2 to 3 minutes longer depending on the power of your microwave).
Add vanilla and stir. Pour into greased 9 X 13 Tupperware container. Cool and cut into squares ( a pizza cutter works well) Wrap individually in waxed paper These freeze very well.
TIP:
Place a glass candy thermometer in the caramel during the last few minutes to watch the temp. If you would like you could check the temp by placing the thermometer in while setting on the counter. Do not under cook.
